Su nombre es Joshua, y es un rapero con ascendencia salvadoreña, ya que su madre nació en el Barrio Lourdes de San Salvador. King Cydal tiene varios temas, entre los que destaca «By My Self», una canción que he escuchado decenas de veces desde que la conocí. Dicha canción cuenta con un videoclip de primera clase, que lo proyecta como una de las estrellas más prometedoras del rap.
«By My Self» de King Cydal es una canción donde expresa temas de independencia, autosuficiencia y reflexión sobre su propio camino. Las letras se centran en la idea de mantenerse firme y hacer las cosas por su cuenta, sin depender de otros.
“Gran parte de ese tiempo estuve por mi cuenta… Puedes esperar a que alguien te ayude, pero tienes que ir por ti mismo. Cuando demuestras que puedes hacerlo por ti mismo, la gente quiere moverse contigo… No puedes recibir ayuda si no te ayudas a ti mismo», dijo el rapero sobre uno de sus éxitos más recientes.
En una entrevista con El Metropolitano Digital, King Cydal se abrió con nosotros y mostró su lado más íntimo, destacando su admiración por su hermano, quien también es rapero. «Mi hermano fue mi maestro directo… él me preparó para lidiar con los artistas más grandes… fue un gran maestro.»
Además, descubrimos que tiene un entrañable amor por El Salvador. Sus pupusas favoritas son las de chicharrón, y hasta tiene una combinación de “fresco” de mango-maracuyá que descubrió en nuestro país y de la cual quedó encantado.
Al ser cuestionado sobre el sentimiento de tener una madre salvadoreña, respondió: «Es genial… es hermoso, mucha familia latina, mucha música… tengo un fuerte amor latino a mi alrededor… eso soy yo, realmente me abrazan (su familia).»
«Durante los últimos días estuve por mi cuenta, y el pueblo salvadoreño me mostró tanto amor, me trataron como a familia… tenemos la misma familia y me abrazaron. Fuimos al Mirador, a diferentes restaurantes, fui a El Tunco, Ataco, El Boquerón, Atami, Barrio Lourdes, Centro Histórico.»
Hace música desde los 16 años.
Se dedica a la música desde que tenía 16 años y ha estado “picando piedra” durante siete años, haciendo colaboraciones con artistas de renombre. A propósito de ello, unió fuerzas con Young Chop de Oakland, y juntos crearon su clásico EP “Tacos & Pupusas”.
Este febrero, anunció que está trabajando en su nuevo álbum, que llevará por nombre “Reign”, que en español significa «Reinado», y del cual grabó varias imágenes para sus videoclips en el renovado Centro Histórico de San Salvador. Con esta producción, planea regresar a El Salvador para presentarla y compartir nuevamente con sus fans salvadoreños.

«A lot of that time I was by myself… You can wait on somebody, you just gotta go by yourself. When you prove yourself by yourself, then people wanna move with you… You can’t get help if you don’t help yourself,» the rapper said about one of his latest hits.
In an interview with El Metropolitano Digital, King Cydal opened up to us and showed his most intimate side, highlighting his admiration for his brother, who is also a rapper. «My brother was my direct teacher… he prepared me to deal with the bigger artists… he was a great teacher.»
Additionally, we discovered that he has a deep love for El Salvador. His favorite pupusas are the ones with chicharrón, and he even discovered a mango-passion fruit “fresco” in our country that he fell in love with.
When asked about the feeling of having a Salvadoran mother, he responded: «It’s great… it’s beautiful, a lot of Latin family, a lot of music… I have strong Latin love around me… that’s me, they really embrace me (his family).»
«For the past few days I was by myself, and Salvadoran people showed me so much love, they treat me like family… we have the same family and they embrace me. We went to the Mirador, different restaurants, I went to El Tunco, Ataco, El Boquerón, Atami, Barrio Lourdes, Centro Histórico.»
